Environmental Sustainability Policy

Environmental Sustainability Policy

Our Commitment

Anderson Corporation’s Environmental Sustainability Policy sets out our commitment to managing the environmental impacts of our business responsibly. Therefore, we aim to improve the environmental performance of our operations wherever reasonably practicable.

As a supplier of fibre optic, communications and associated infrastructure products, our environmental responsibilities extend beyond our own workplace. In particular, they include how we select products, engage with manufacturers and suppliers, manage packaging and waste, use resources, and communicate with customers.

Accordingly, we aim to make practical and commercially responsible decisions that reduce unnecessary environmental impacts. At the same time, we must maintain product quality, safety, performance, compliance and customer service.

As an Australian supplier of fibre optic, communications and associated infrastructure products, Anderson Corporation recognises that its environmental responsibilities extend beyond its own workplace. In particular, they include how we select products, engage with manufacturers and suppliers, manage packaging and waste, use resources, and communicate with customers.

Purpose

The purpose of this Environmental Sustainability Policy is to establish the principles that guide Anderson Corporation’s approach to environmental responsibility.

Furthermore, the policy helps us integrate environmentally responsible practices into our everyday operations, purchasing decisions, supplier relationships and business planning.

Scope

This policy applies to Anderson Corporation’s employees, contractors and business operations.

In addition, we encourage our manufacturers, suppliers, service providers and other business partners to adopt responsible environmental practices appropriate to the nature and scale of their operations.

In addition, we encourage our manufacturers, suppliers, service providers and other business partners to adopt responsible environmental practices appropriate to the nature and scale of their operations. These expectations also form part of our broader Ethical Sourcing Program.

Policy Commitments

Anderson Corporation is committed to the following environmental practices:

  • First, we will comply with applicable Australian environmental laws, regulations and other environmental obligations relevant to our operations.
  • In addition, we will identify and manage significant environmental risks associated with our business activities.
  • Wherever practical, we will use electricity, water, packaging and other resources responsibly.
  • Furthermore, we will seek to reduce avoidable waste and support the reuse and recycling of materials.
  • Similarly, we will dispose of waste responsibly and use suitable recycling or waste-management services where available.
  • Where possible, we will consider opportunities to reduce unnecessary packaging and improve the recyclability of packaging materials.
  • Instead of relying unnecessarily on printed materials, we will use electronic documentation and communication where appropriate.
  • Moreover, we will consider relevant environmental factors when selecting products, materials, suppliers and service providers.
  • As part of our supplier engagement, we will discuss environmental performance and responsible production practices where relevant.
  • Where commercially and operationally practical, we will consolidate orders, deliveries and freight movements.
  • In addition, we will support products that provide appropriate quality, reliability and service life for their intended applications.
  • Through employee awareness, we will encourage our team to understand its environmental responsibilities and contribute to improved environmental performance.
  • When communicating with customers, we will present environmental information accurately and avoid claims that cannot be reasonably supported.
  • Finally, we will review our environmental practices periodically and pursue practical opportunities for continual improvement.

Sustainable Procurement

When making purchasing and supplier-selection decisions, Anderson Corporation may consider relevant environmental factors alongside quality, technical performance, availability, regulatory requirements and commercial considerations.

For example, these factors may include:

  • Where relevant, the environmental practices of the manufacturer or supplier.
  • In addition, the durability and expected service life of the product.
  • Where practical, the selection of materials and the responsible use of resources.
  • Furthermore, the type, volume and recyclability of packaging.
  • Where available, opportunities to reduce waste.
  • Similarly, opportunities to improve transportation and freight efficiency.
  • Finally, the availability of relevant environmental certifications, declarations or supporting information.

However, we will assess environmental considerations in proportion to the nature, scale and risk of each purchase. Consequently, these considerations will not replace essential requirements relating to safety, quality, technical suitability, regulatory compliance or customer needs.

For additional information, the Australian Government provides guidance through its Sustainable Procurement Guide.

Responsibilities

Management is responsible for supporting the implementation and periodic review of this policy.

Meanwhile, employees are expected to:

  • Where applicable, follow the environmental practices and procedures relevant to their work.
  • In addition, use energy, materials and other resources responsibly.
  • Where suitable facilities are available, separate recyclable materials from general waste.
  • Wherever practical, avoid unnecessary waste.
  • Furthermore, report environmental concerns or opportunities for improvement to management.
  • When communicating with customers, ensure that environmental representations are accurate and supportable.

Monitoring and Continual Improvement

Anderson Corporation will periodically review its environmental practices. As a result, we can identify practical and relevant opportunities for improvement.

Where appropriate to the size and nature of our operations, this review may consider:

  • For example, our use of energy and other resources.
  • In addition, our waste and recycling arrangements.
  • Where relevant, our packaging practices.
  • Furthermore, environmental information provided by suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Similarly, our freight and delivery practices.
  • Through internal communication, employee awareness of environmental responsibilities.
  • Finally, any environmental risks, incidents and corrective actions relevant to our operations.

As our operations, products and environmental obligations evolve, our environmental priorities may also change. Therefore, we will continue to consider improvements that are practical, relevant and proportionate to our business.

Policy Review

Anderson Corporation will review this policy periodically. In addition, we will update it when there are material changes to our operations, environmental obligations or sustainability priorities.
